3 Advantages of Traveling as a Freelancer
As a freelancer I have to travel a lot. Not always it is required by the work I do, but even if it’s not, then I still try to work here and there, not to break the work schedule. In this tiny post below, I talk about how traveling can help improve your work efficiency, irregardless of what you’re doing.
Discipline
Traveling is a very disciplined activity, especially if it’s traveling abroad. Keeping yourself together not only does a great job for those who don’t want to miss their plane but also improves one’s work efficiency. Focusing on a task, especially if the task is timed (say, your airplane is about to land in 3 hours, no time to surf on the web, no web on board, actually), increases efficiency and hence the work rate.
Isolation
When you’re on the go, rarely do you have all of the leisure activities able to distract you. Many freelancers tend to work from libraries or cafes, where nothing can distract them, no household chores, no relatives, etc. Traveling includes isolation, at least the transport does, so why not take advantage of that and get into work?
Inspiration
While it might feel as if inspiration helps the creative minds only, changing the scene once in a while, gives a great boost to anyone (haven’t we all tried to work in a cafe? Imagine switching countries, not only places!). Treating your esthetic side helps your motivation that leads to achieving higher goals.
Of course, traveling abroad can be fairly expensive and you can’t imagine flying back and forth every day. A train trip to a nearby city can cheer you work rate up as well. The important thing is to change the scene once in a while! See you next time!
