Never Stop Advertising!

After a couple of hundred new clients going through one’s contacts book, one has to wonder, if he has done his job and can sit at home, waiting for calls from new clients who think they must hire him, just cause he’s that good. Some believe that once a client base is established, you can relax a little and in this article, we’re going to see why one might think so, and why it is wrong to think like that.

Advertise More

Advertisement is the primal way of every business to work, as if there are no clients, no business is done. Every professional has his or her own ways of finding work and clients to work with, but eventually everyone gets to do his day-to-day routine on advertising himself. Whether it is reading through all of the job sites online, calling agencies to ask if there’s any work for you or face-to-face meeting, either way, after a month or two, the search becomes automated (or you hire someone to do the job for you).

I have a friend who used to advertise himself for a couple of years, going through every job site he could find and eventually establishing a well-crafted client base. After he couldn’t accept some of the jobs because of the time issues, and once he started going through the jobs to select those he liked, he stopped advertising himself. He had good reasons to do so, as there are clients eager to get him, his calendar is filled with deadlines and he simply doesn’t have time or need to advertise himself.

Reminder Advertisement

Coca-Cola is the highest brand in the world. You can hardly find a person who has never drank Coke or never heard of it. With the world-wide recognition the Coca-Cola company has, they could’ve stopped advertising a long time ago and still get the revenue they’re getting, but they chose not to, and so should’ve my friend.

The reasons why are as follows:

  • Reminding keeps the competitors away

Obviously, saying that you’re out there and are expecting gigs, means that you’re keeping your competitors busy at competing with you, and not letting them take the clients away freely.

Coca-Cola keeps reminding us, that they are producing, so that new companies don’t take their market share away.

  • Reminding makes the clients remember

If you have worked with a client and he or she is looking to set another gig, they are supposed to come to you, taken into account the previous gig was successful. Reminding them of yourself, makes them remember that you’re out there.

If you’re in a shop and want to buy a drink, you will choose the best option you’re given in the shop. If Coca-Cola didn’t have every store sell their products, people would be buying drinks available, not wanting to get to another store for Coke.

  • Reminding makes the clients talk

Every time you remind the clients about yourself, clients are willing to remind others about you. Letting your name float around the industry, makes the people not only hear it but also spread it.

Coca-Cola offers deals to companies like McDonalds, so that McDonalds advertises them as well. This way the market increases and the advert lives on

  • Reminding makes you the industry

Putting your name out there 24/7 makes you a vital part of the industry you work in. Once your name is establish, it is going to be associated with the industry, and clients will think of you when they think of the job.

When you think soft drink, you think Coke, it’s that simple. Making something like that possible took decades of advertisements and spreading the word.

Advertisement is the strongest form of promotion, however no advertisement is good enough, if the product is bad. Don’t stop advertising, but don’t stop improving as well.

See you next time!
